Today in History: 70th Anniversary of the San Francisco Conference

Seventy years ago today on April 25, 1945, the San Francisco Conference (formally called the United Nations Conference on International Organization) began. At this meeting, which continued for two months, delegates from 46 nations drafted the 111-article Charter of the United Nations, The Charter was adopted unanimously on June 25, 1945, in the San Francisco Opera House and signed the next day by 50 member countries in the Herbst Theatre auditorium of the Veterans War Memorial Building.
